About Olds
Fred A. Olds Elementary School is a North Carolina School of Distinction that serves students in grades Kindergarten through fifth grade. Our school typically has an enrollment between 300 and 350 students in grades Kindergarten through fifth grade. We are located near the NC State University campus.
The educational program at Olds emphasizes innovative, student-centered approaches to learning 21st century foundational skills. The standard curriculum is enhanced through the implementation of flexible grouping to meet individual student needs. Our educational program incorporates project-based learning with an emphasis on quality practices, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics), and the inclusion of community members and University faculty and students into the school for enhanced student learning experiences. We also are a Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) school with an emphasis on teaching students appropriate behaviors and habits through modeling, positive reinforcement, and staff support.
