Before being a school counselor I worked at Leesville Elementary as a teacher assistant and an administrative assistant. I earned my National Board Certification in 2014. I am looking forward to this 2015-2016 school year!! Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help. You can email me at [email protected] or call me at 919-856-7704. Thank you!
Middle school registration is coming up! Green papers will be sent home to be signed and sent back to school. Electives will be chosen on line this year and that will be done at the school. An elective sheet will be sent home and together you and your 5th grader will pick what electives you want to take 6th grade. That sheet will be sent back to school and during a special time, we will login into their power-school account and select those electives at school. Afterwards, an official elective sheet will be printed and sent home to be signed again and sent back to school so it can be forwarded to the middle schools.
Bullying has been addressed in each classroom during the month of October. From the survey, I found that 60% of our third graders have been bullied, 59% of our 4th graders have been bullied and 75% of our fifth graders have been bullied. 14% of our 3rd graders feel that bullying is a problem at our school, 2% of our 4th graders feel that bullying is a problem at our school and 17% of our 5th graders feel that bullying is a problem at our school. 14% of the 3rd graders, 21% of our 4th graders, and 19% of our 5th graders feel that the staff does not handle bullying well. 86% of our 3rd graders, 81% of our 4th graders, and 87% of our 5th graders know how to report bullying. 57% of our 3rd graders, 54% of our 4th graders, and 49% of our 5th graders do feel safe at our school. 6 third graders, 1 fourth grader, and 3 5th graders feel they have been bullied in the last 30 days.
From this information, character education is taught every month in every classroom, bullying will be talked about at February PTA meeting to increase awareness, Ind. and group counseling are constant and available for every student who needs to talk or report when needed, and administration investigates and follows-up on all incidents reported about bullying.
