Hello from Olds Elementary. This is Dr. Wheeler and Mr. Liles with your Olds Updates.
End of Grade Tests We start tomorrow! Third, fourth, and fifth grade students will begin their EOG testing Friday, May 30, 2014. They will test for three days. We will have free breakfasts for the testing students on Friday and the following Monday. Please help us help your children by having them get a good night’s rest, bring two number2 pencils with them and a good book to read, and getting them to school by 8:15 a.m. Be sure to check out the End of Grade information on the school website.
Spring Fling We are holding our annual Spring Fling this Friday, May 30 from 6 - 8 pm! There will be food, games, entertainment and a silent auction. You will want to see this year’s class baskets. They are really special. Our children, their families, our staff and alumni love this event. Come and be a part of the fun.
Yearbooks You can still purchase a yearbook by coming by the Spring Fling Yearbook table.
Fly Up Day Friday, May 30th is Fly Up Day at Olds. Starting at 1:30 p.m., our students will take a flight to the next grade level and get a sneak preview of what they can expect to experience next year.
June End of Year Events Please check the front page of our website for reminders about upcoming events like field trips, grade level picnics and other special activities.
Field Day Field day is coming up soon on Friday, June 6th. Coach Huffman wants to remind everyone that there will be many exciting events planned for the day. K-2 will have field day from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 participate from 12:30-2:30 p.m. Coach sends all of you the following message, “Please send your child with a change of clothes because there will be many water activities. They also will need closed toed footwear, preferably old tennis shoes, as crocs are not permitted. Sandal shoes like Keen makes that protection the toes well are ok. I still need parent volunteers for each session. Jobs will range from working and participating at different stations to filling the water cooler for the rest station. If you can volunteer for one or both sessions please email me at [email protected]. I am still in need of more volunteers!!! I need roughly nine per session, so please sign up.”
Air Conditioning Oh my goodness, the temperature is dropping at Olds. Central office came through for us! We now have air conditioning units in our previously toasty warm rooms. Thank you central office and the wonderful guys who installed them!
This is Mr. Liles and Dr. Wheeler wishing you a wonderful day!
