Good afternoon from Dr. Wheeler and Mr. Liles! We hope you had an enjoyable weekend and are ready for our winter break that begins Monday, December 23rd. We look forward to seeing everyone back on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014. This entire message will be posted on our school website under Administrators’’ Notes.
End of Grade (EOG) Parent Letters Fourth and fifth grade students will be bringing home a letter for their parents that describes how they performed on the EOG tests at the end of last year. Please look for the letter.
Lost and Found Tables The lost and found items have moved to two tables in the downstairs hallway near the cafeteria for the rest of this week. Please take a moment to ask your children to check the tables for any missing articles of clothing and/or lunchboxes. If you would like to check the tables yourself, please check in as a visitor in the main office before going down to look at the tables. The items will be out until the end of the school day on Friday, at which point they will be donated to local shelters.
School Donations If you are replacing iPhones, iPads, iTouches or similar devices over the winter break, please consider donating your used ones to the school. It will count as a tax deduction to the school and help us build our technology base for our students!
Giving Tree There are still student numbers to be taken off our annual “Giving Tree.” If you are in a position to help others this holiday season, please take a number and sign in on the office notebook. You would then purchase clothes or toys appropriate for the age and gender of the child you picked. Please bring the presents wrapped with the number on them to the office by Thursday, December 19th. Office staff will distribute the gifts. Thank you in advance for your kindness, generosity, and good cheer.
Neighborhood Situation Some of you may be aware of an incident with one of the school neighbors on Friday afternoon at the end of the school day. Dr. Wheeler and Mr. Liles are aware of the incident and are working cooperatively with WCPSS Security and local law enf to resolve the situation. Our goal as always is to provide our students with a safe, positive learning environment.
Visiting School There are many winter holiday celebrations occurring in school this week. If you are visiting our school please make sure to check in and get a visitor’s badge in the main office.
Head Lice We have had multiple episodes of head lice over the past couple of months. The winter break is a great time for all of us to create a clean start for the start of the year. If you would like advice on how to ensure a lice free environment, please contact the office and we will send you the school district’s advice sheet.
Happy Winter Break This is Mr. Liles and Dr. Wheeler hoping you, your family, and your friends have a wonderful winter break! We are thankful you are part of the Fred A. Olds Elementary school family and wish the best to all of you as we wrap up 2013!
