Good day Olds Elementary Families! This is Dr. Wheeler with updates on Olds Elementary happenings.
Just So You Know: Today ends the first quarter of the 2013-14 School Year. It is hard to believe we are already one/fourth into the school year. Students – How much time (in fractions) is left in the school year? The first student to let me know the answer on Tuesday will get one of my special Principal Prizes for Smart Work.
Report Cards: Reports Cards are coming home in your Tuesday Folders on Nov. 5, 2013.
Teacher Work Day: Monday, Oct. 28th is a teacher workday. No school for students.
Fundraiser: We had an absolutely wonderful time yesterday running and walking during our Boosterthon Fun Run. It was great being outside in the sunshine and fresh air as we raised funds for the school. We want to thank all the students, families, event coordinators and PTA folks who made all of this possible. Also, I was asked by a parent if I would let folks extend the deadline for getting donations into the school. Yes, that is possible. You can continue to send tax deductible donations to the school up until November 1st if you want to add to the overall amount collected during this fall fundraiser event. I will share a secret with you. I personally think students are behind this extension request so they can have more time to meet our fundraising goal … which means … Mr. Liles and Dr. Wheeler get their hair colored purple!!
Testing: Our third, fourth and fifth grade students will be taking end of quarter tests in Language Arts and Mathematics this coming Tuesday and Wednesday mornings (Oct. 26 and 27). Please help our young students do their best on the test by getting them to bed for plenty of rest and ensuring they eat a healthy breakfast. Thank you.
Other Upcoming School Events: Other upcoming school events include: McTeacher Night at McDonalds on Wed. Oct. 30th, participation in the NCSU Homecoming Parade on Friday, Nov. 1st, and a Garden & Grounds Clean Up on Sunday, Nov. 3rd. Please check our school website for more details on these and other events.
